Relativity Media has upped Greg Forston to exec VP and general sales manager of theatrical distribution.
Forston previously served as senior VP, overseeing Relativity’s Eastern division when the company acquired the marketing and distribution operations of Overture Films in 2010.
In his new role, Forston will be responsible for executing national theatrical distribution and release plans for the U.S.
He will report directly to Kyle Davies, prexy of worldwide distribution.
Forston recently helped guide box office success “Limitless” to become Relativity’s highest opener as a distributor. He’s currently working on its upcoming “Shark Night 3D,” “Machine Gun Preacher” and “Immortals,” and will soon be overseeing distribution plans for “Haywire,” “The Raven,” “House at the End of the Street” and Relativity’s untitled Snow White project.
During Forston’s time at Overture, he worked on such films as “The Men Who Stare at Goats,” “Law Abiding Citizen” and “The Visitor.” He previously served as the head of distribution at IFC, Fine Line Features and Palm Pictures, where he played a role in the success of indie pics including “My Big Fat Greek Wedding,” “Memento” and “Maria Full of Grace.”
