Rachel Korine joins ‘Spring Breakers’

Wife of director Harmony Korine added to cast of pic

Rachel Korine, the wife of indie filmmaker Harmony Korine, has landed the last lead in his next project, “Spring Breakers.”

The girls gone wild pic follows four college girls who who rob a fast food restaurant to afford spring break in Florida. Upon arrival, they get arrested and meet up with a shady criminal who bails them out of jail and entices them to kill his arch-rival.

Emma Roberts, Vanessa Hudgens and Selena Gomez are in talks to play the other three girls alongside Korine, while James Franco is attached to play the drug and arms dealer they get mixed up with.

Harmony Korine, who’s best known for writing Larry Clark’s seminal film “Kids,” is directing from his own script.

MJZ prexy David Zander will produce “Spring Breakers” with Chris Hanley of Muse Prods., as well as Charles-Marie Anthonioz and Jordan Gertner. Production will take place during spring break in Florida. CAA packaged the project and will rep its domestic distribution rights.

Rachel Korine, who most recently starred in Michael Tully’s Sundance entry “Septien,” previously played Little Red Riding Hood in her husband’s 2007 pic “Mister Lonely” and also appeared in his most recent film, “Trash Humpers.”
