Phase 4 Films has picked up U.S. rights to “Another Happy Day,” the dysfunctional family comedy from writer-helmer Sam Levinson.
Ellen Barkin, Demi Moore, Kate Bosworth, Thomas Haden Church, Ellen Burstyn and Ezra Miller appear in the film, in which a woman (Barkin) and two of her grown kids (Miller, Bosworth) attend the wedding of her estranged son.
“Happy Day” preemed at Sundance earlier this year and scored a screenwriting kudo for Levinson. Pic from production company Mandalay Vision was produced by Barkin, Celine Rattray, Todd Traina, Johnny Lin, Michael Nardelli, Salli Newman and Pamela Fielder.
Rattray, the former topper of Mandalay Vision, recently made news when she jumped ship with a handful of staffers to hang out her own shingle with Trudie Styler, Maven Pictures. Barkin, meanwhile, is currently nommed for a Tony for her Broadway debut in the revival of play “The Normal Heart.”
Deal was sealed by Larry Greenberg of Phase 4 and Mandalay Vision’s Michelle Hastings with CAA.
Phase 4 has brought on exec David Dinerstein to oversee a planned fall theatrical release for the film.
