Paramount Pictures has acquired distribution rights to Scott Rudin’s “L.A. Rex” project, which is based on the novel by Will Beall, who will pen the script.
Story follows an LAPD officer who becomes a mole investigating a crime against the head of the Mexican mafia. He and his partner become involved in a web of corruption and retribution involving gangbangers and dirty cops.
Rudin still has to decide on a director and cast.
Beall is finishing up the script on Warner Bros.’ “Gangster Squad” and is also set to write WB’s revamping of “Logan’s Run.”
Rudin and Par most recently worked together on “True Grit,” which made more than $150 million at the domestic box office and received 10 Oscar nominations.
