Mullan to topline ‘Man Inside’

Action thriller features Michelle Ryan, Ashley 'Bashy' Thomas

Peter Mullan, the helmer and co-star of “NEDS,” and “4.3.2.1.” thesps Michelle Ryan and Ashley (Bashy) Thomas are set to star in action thriller “The Man Inside.”

Pic, which begins lensing in Newcastle this week, is written and directed by Dan Turner (“Stormhouse”) and tells the story of a young boxer who is haunted by the legacy of his brutal gangster father and the scars of his violent upbringing.

Scanner-Rhodes Prods.’ Dean Fisher produces while Urban Way Prods.’ Ray Panthaki co-produces.

Pic received a £140,000 ($222,577) cash injection from Northern Film & Media’s Creative Content Fund, a $3.8 million public venture capital co-investment fund held by Northern Film and Media and managed by Northstar Ventures.

Fund has a portfolio of investments in low- and micro-budget films, including soccer docu “One Night in Turin,” Face Films’ forthcoming feature “January” and World Prods.’ BBC TV feature “United.”

Kaleidoscope Entertainment will distribute the pic in Blighty while Kaleidoscope Film Distribution will handle international sales.
