Mary-Louise Parker joins U’s ‘R.I.P.D’

'Weeds' star rounds out cast of Robert Schwentke-helmed fantasy pic

EXCLUSIVE: Mary-Louise Parker is in negotiations to round out the cast of Universal’s “R.I.P.D.”

The pic already stars Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges, Kevin Bacon and Stephanie Szostak.

Robert Schwentke is directing the pic, based on the graphic novel series by Peter Lenkov.

The original story was about a cop killed in the line of duty who is recruited by a team of undead police officers working for the Rest in Peace Department. He then tries to find the man who murdered him.

Parker would play the woman overseeing the division who explains to Reynolds’ character what has happened when he dies. Jodie Foster had shown interest in the role but eventually passed.

Neal H. Moritz and Mike Richardson producing through Dark Horse Entertainment and Original Film. Reynolds, David Dobkin, Keith Goldberg, Jonathon Komack Martin and Ori Marmur will serve as exec producers.

Parker at present is toplining the seventh season of Showtime’s “Weeds.”
