The Los Angeles Irish Film Festival has announced its program for the 2011 event, which runs Sept. 29 to Oct. 2.

Opening night event will include a celebration of actress Fionnula Flanagan, a screening of helmer John Michael McDonagh’s comedy thriller “The Guard,” starring Brendan Gleeson and Don Cheadle, and a performance from soprano Judith Mok at the Academy of Motion Picture, Arts and Sciences in Hollywood.

The rest of the fest’s screenings will take place at the Aero Theater in Santa Monica. These include the U.S. premiere of “Dreaming the Quiet Man,” helmer Se Merry Doyle’s documentary about the making of the classic John Ford movie starring John Wayne, and the West Coast premiere of “The Swell Season,” a docu about singer-songwriters Glen Hansard and Marketa Iglova, helmed by Nick August-Perna, Chris Dapkins and Carlo Mirabella.
