Kudos for mixer Scott Millan

He'll receive Cinema Audio Society career nod

The Cinema Audio Society will honor re-recording mixer Scott Millan with the CAS Career Achievement Award on Feb. 18.

Millan will be feted at the 48th CAS Awards at the Millennium-Biltmore Hotel in L.A.

A four-time Academy Award winner (for “Apollo 13,” “Gladiator,” “Ray” and “The Bourne Ultimatum”), Millan was nominated for a total of eight Oscars. He also won three CAS trophies for outstanding achievement in sound mixing.

Millan’s 37-year career spans stints at L.A.’s channel 13, CBS, Larson Sound and Todd AO Studios, where he became lead dialogue/music mixer, working on such films as “Schindler’s List,” “Braveheart” and “Gladiator.”

In 2000 Millan went to Sony Pictures, but he returned to Todd AO in 2004 as senior veep, operations. This fall Millan took a new position at the Technicolor/Paramount sound facilities on the Par lot.
