Lainie Kazan has resigned from the national board of the Screen Actors Guild and from the Hollywood board with nine months left on her three-year term.

She’s tapped David Jolliffe, a longtime leader of the Membership First faction, as her replacement for the rest of the term.

Kazan scored the sixth highest total of votes in the 2008 election, which saw control shift to the self-styled moderates of the Unite for Strength faction.

Membership First has since lost many of its seats on the 71-member board. Ed Asner, Elliott Gould, Ed Harris and Martin Sheen are among the most notable remaing reps of the self-style progressive group.
