Independent filmmakers and digital media wonks will want to save the date of April 19, when IFP and tech-centric media consulting firm Power to the Pixel will present their first annual Cross-Media Forum in New York City. The projects unveiled at the Forum will also be a part of IFP’s Independent Film Week in the fall.
The collaboration between the three-decade-old IFP and the 4-year-old Power to the Pixel was the result of outreach by IFP exec director Joana Vicente to Liz Rosenthal, the founder of Power to the Pixel. Vicente called the partnership “an exciting way to extend our reach as an organization.”
Like the London edition of the conference, the Cross-Media Forum will endeavor to provide a link between artists, academics and capital. “This is an event for anyone who wants to learn more about creating and financing cross-media story properties and meet the players in this area,” Rosenthal said via email.
“In this current environment, we want to ensure that filmmakers and content/media makers have a wide variety of creative and business opportunities to sustain their careers,” said Vicente.
The Forum will consist of a conference with keynote addresses and case studies and project presentations where producers and storytellers can pitch their ideas. The price range for tickets, which go on sale in March, will be $125-$175.
