IFC Films has taken North American rights to Guillem Morales’ “Julia’s Eyes,” one of Spain’s key recent genre titles.
The pic, which was sold by DeAPlaneta, toplines Belen Rueda (“The Orphanage”), and was produced by Rodar y Rodar, UPI, Antena 3 Films and Guillermo del Toro. The psychological thriller will open theatrically via IFC in August.
DeAPlaneta has also sold North American rights to Bigas Luna’s “DiDi Hollywood” to Maya Entertainment.
Starring Elsa Pataky, “DiDi” grossed $1 million in Spain. It has been sold worldwide.
DeAPlaneta has also chalked up another major-territory pre-sale on psycho killer thriller “Blind Alley,” licensing Japan to Shochiku Co. Produced by Barcelona-based Roxbury and Antena 3 Films, “Alley” is helmed by Antonio Trashorras.
“Blind Alley” will be one of DeAPlaneta biggest attractions at the Madrid de Cine-Spanish Film Screenings, which run Sunday-Tuesday.
