IFC Midnight stakes a claim on ‘Stake Land’

Thriller hits screens in April

IFC Midnight has partnered with MPI Media Group and its subsidiary Dark Sky Films to release “Stake Land,” the vampire-plague thriller that won an audience award at the Toronto Film Festival.

Connor Paolo, Danielle Harris, Kelly McGillis, Nick Damici and Michael Cerveris star in the Jim Mickle-helmed movie about a motley bunch of survivors trying to steer clear of both a vampire epidemic and a hardcore militia led by a religious zealot. Screenplay was penned by Damici and Mickle.

Film was produced by Larry Fessenden, Peter Phok, Adam Folk, Brent Kunkle and Derek Curl in association with Off Hollywood Pictures and Bella Donna Prods. Distribution deal was negotiated by IFC’s Arianna Bocco with Greg Newman of MPI/Dark Sky.

“Stake Land” will be released theatrically nationwide April 22, when the movie will simultaneously be made available through VOD for the couchbound set.
