Twentieth Century Fox Animation will bring the newspaper comic strip “Mutts” to the big screen.
Studio is currently developing the strip with its creator, Patrick McDonnell, and his brother Robert McDonnell. Duo will write the script while Patrick McDonnell will also exec produce.
Fox Animation exec Ralph Millero brought the project to the studio.
Patrick McDonnell created the strip in 1994. According to the comic’s official website, “Mutts” now appears in 700 newspapers and 20 countries.
Scribe has also penned several children’s books, including two New York Times bestsellers.
“Mutts” centers around the daily adventures of pets Earl, a dog, and Mooch, a cat, highlighting the adorable differences between the two most popular types of house pets. Mooch is known for his catchphrase “Yesh!” and tendency to add the “sh” sound to words.
