Milan Popelka has been upped to chief operating officer at Glen Basner’s FilmNation Entertainment.
Popelka has served as FilmNation’s exec VP of strategic planning and creative affairs since the company’s inception in 2008.
In his new position, Popelka will oversee day-to-day operations for FilmNation’s offices on both coasts, including managing the company’s finances and the structuring of individual film financings, as well as leading business development and strategic planning.
Popelka will also work with the production/development team to advance FilmNation’s internal slate, which includes an untitled romantic comedy that Keith Bunin is writing, as well as the Chase Palmer-penned “Spirit House,” based on Christopher G. Moore’s series of novels about Bangkok-based private detective Vincent Calvino.
“He is a strategic and proactive leader,” said Basner.
FilmNation is currently in post-production on Jennifer Lawrence thriller “House at the End of the Street.” Company recently wrapped production on James McTeigue’s “The Raven,” and is also developing “F*cking Engaged,” which has Jessica Biel attached to star.
