Veteran exec Beth Lemberger has joined domestic distributor FilmDistrict as senior VP of business and legal affairs.

She will report to CEO Peter Schlessel.

Prior to joining FilmDistrict, Lemberger was responsible for the U.S. movie business at iTunes where she oversaw the studio and independent relationships domestically. She was previously assistant general counsel in the corporate and distribution legal group at Sony Pictures Entertainment, where she worked on worldwide distribution of motion picture and television product on traditional and new media platforms.

FilmDistrict, founded by Graham King and Tim Headington’s GK Films in partnership with Schlessel, launched earlier this year with a focus on midrange pictures and saw success with “Insidious” and “Soul Surfer” grossing a combined $95 million. Upcoming titles include “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark” on Aug. 26, “Drive” on Sept. 16, “The Rum Diary” on Oct. 28 and “In the Land of Blood and Honey” on Dec. 23.
