Falcone signs on for ‘Expecting’

Latest addition to big name cast

EXCLUSIVE: “Bridesmaids” thesp Ben Falcone has joined the cast of Lionsgate’s motherhood comedy “What to Expect When You’re Expecting.”

Falcone will play Colin, Elizabeth Banks’ husband, who supports her by gaining sympathy weight during her pregnancy. Colin is also the son of Dennis Quaid’s character, a former NASCAR driver who turns everything into a competition.

Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez and Anna Kendrick star alongside Chris Rock, Matthew Morrison, Chace Crawford, Joe Manganiello, Rodrigo Santoro, Rob Huebel, Brooklyn Decker, Mimi Gianopulos and Falcone’s fellow “Bridesmaids” co-star Wendi McLendon-Covey.

Kirk Jones is directing the adaptation of Heidi Murkoff and Sharon Mazel’s bestselling book, which has been adapted by Shauna Cross (“Whip It”). Production is skedded to begin later this summer, and Lionsgate will release the film over Mother’s Day weekend next year.

Falcone played a scene-stealing Air Marshall in “Bridesmaids” opposite his real life wife, Melissa McCarthy. Thesp previously appeared in “Smiley Face” and worked with “Bridesmaids” helmer Paul Feig on his debut feature “Unaccompanied Minors.”
