Emmett/Furla Films has come onboard to produce and finance the comedy “Rule #1” together with Brad Epstein of Panther Films and Reese Witherspoon through her Type A Films production banner.

Witherspoon is in talks to topline as a woman trying to cope with Obssessive Compulsive Disorder as she takes in an unpredictable young woman with a newborn in an effort to face her anxieties and ultimately win back her estranged husband.

Courtney Hunt (“Frozen River”) has come aboard to direct the film, written by “One Fine Day” scribe Terrel Seltzer.

Witherspoon was last seen in “Water for Elephants” and will be seen next in Fox’s spy caper comedy “This Means War.”

Emmett/Furla Films — operated by Randall Emmett and George Furla — is in pre-production on “Broken City,” starring Mark Wahlberg, Russell Crowe and Catherine Zeta Jones, and “Frozen Ground,” starring John Cusak, Nicolas Cage and Vanessa Hudgens. It’s in post on “Lay the Favorite,” “Fire With Fire,” “Freelancers” and “End of Watch” and is developing “The Tomb,” to star Sylvester Stallone; “Captive,” starring Arnold Schwarzenegger; and “The Pursuit,” with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.

In September, Emmett/Furla anounced a new $250 million film fund with Envision Entertainment to finance a new slate.

Witherspoon and Emmett/Furla are repped by CAA.
