Delpy called to Joe Strummer biopic

'Before Sunrise' thesp set to helm biopic of The Clash frontman

The bigscreen is calling: Julie Delpy is attached to direct “The Right Profile,” a biopic of the Clash frontman Joe Strummer that Simon Halfon (“Sleuth”) is producing.

Don’t be surprised if Delpy takes a role in the film as well, since the French thesp has appeared in all but one of the films she’s directed, including 2007’s “2 Days in Paris.”

She recently wrapped production on sequel “2 Days in New York,” with Chris Rock playing her new love interest.

Details from “The Right Profile” are being kept under wraps, but the idea is to focus on Strummer’s life and his planned disappearance from the public spotlight in 1982. Pic is titled after the song “The Right Profile,” which appeared on the Clash’s seminal 1979 album “London Calling.”

An iconic figure of the British punk movement, Strummer died in December 2002, just a month before he and the Clash were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

In recent weeks, Delpy has been talking to her “Before Sunrise” director Richard Linklater and co-star Ethan Hawke about revisiting the film’s central characters, last seen onscreen in 2004’s “Before Sunset.”

Delpy is repped by CAA and Markham, Froggatt and Irwin.
