Toni Collette will reunite with “Muriel’s Wedding” helmer PJ Hogan nearly two decades after that film helped launch their Stateside careers.

Screen Australia announced Monday it would back Hogan’s new film “Mental” about a family and its crazy but charismatic nanny.

Pic will be Hogan’s first Aussie film since he left for Hollywood to helm “My Best Friend’s Wedding” and “Confessions of a Shopaholic.” He will also pen the script. Collette had been toplining Showtime skein “United States of Tara.”

Ruth Harley, Screen Australia topper said, “PJ Hogan is a hugely talented filmmaker. Add into the mix the delicious prospect of PJ teaming up again with Toni Collette, one of Australia’s most gifted comic actresses, and we look set to see a wildly entertaining film.”

While Screen Australia does not reveal individual figures, its investment in “Mental” brings total production coin for the year to more than $A23 million ($24.6 million) across 17 projects.
