Mandalay Pictures prexy Cathy Schulman has been elected the new president of Women in Film.

Schulman will serve a three-year term at the top of the nonprofit org, taking the reins from Jane Fleming.

Org, whose mandate is to help open doors for femmes in the entertainment biz, has boosted its profile under Fleming’s leadership with more expansive educational and outreach programs, including conferences and the inaugural “Career Rehab” seminar set for Jan. 23 at Salon Studio. Fleming, a principal in Amber Entertainment, served two terms as WIF prexy.

Schulman emphasized the role that WIF can play at a time of great transition in showbiz.

Fleming noted that Schulman’s experience in film, TV and documentary production gives her strong insights into how the org can best fulfill its mission. She called Schulman “a proven leader, producer and visionary.”

Hannah Minghella, prexy of production for Columbia and a WIF board member, will serve as exec chair.

New members elected to elected to WIF’s board of directors are Rowena Arguelles, Jane Buckingham, Sarah Finn, Madelyn Hammond, Deborah Liebling, Ghen Laraya Long, Dawn Miller, Vanessa Morrison Murchison, Katherine Pope, Elizabeth Raposo and Mary Yoel.
