Gaul’s Black Rabbit Film and Canada’s Impatient Pictures have boarded Gallic helmer-scribe Frederic Colier’s “Made in China.”
The English-language drama will be lensed in Canada with French and local talent.
The film turns on two brothers who struggle to get along together until a Chinese woman comes into their lives.
Colier previously directed “Dinosaur Park” and “The Hindenburg Omen.”
Pic is Black Rabbit Film’s first feature. The outfit was launched this year by Isabelle Obadia and Adeline Monzier, who also run the professional network of indie distribs, Europa Distribution.
“Frederic has written a universal script that combines the best of French and North American storytelling,” said Monzier, who is producing with Isabelle Obadia.
Gregory Mackenzie, producer and founder of Impatient, described the film’s plot as “a heartfelt and enjoyable story.”
Obadia and Monzier also created Gotham in Progress, a two-day industry showcase of American indie films in Poland, whose first edition wrapped Saturday.
