Angela Workman is developing a script for an untitled indie about Dorothea Lange, the American photographer whose Depression-era images were said to inspire “The Grapes of Wrath.”

Leslie Dektor will helm with “Get Low” producer David B. Ginsberg producing; David Fincher exec produces.

The film will chronicle the life of Lange, who triumphed over physical disability to capture iconic images of unemployed workers and dispossessed farmers during the 1930s. The photographs are said to have inspired John Steinbeck to pen the seminal American novel.

Workman most recently adapted the tome “The Zookeeper’s Wife” for Scion Films.
