Ben Rappaport joins ‘Hope Springs’

'Outsourced' thesp tapped for Sony comedy

“Outsourced” star Ben Rappaport has been cast as Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones’ son in Sony Pictures’ comedy “Great Hope Springs.”

Streep and Jones play a long-married couple struggling with intimacy issues who receive an intense week of marriage and sex therapy from a famed relationship guru, to played by Steve Carell.

David Frankel (“The Big Year”) is directing from a script by Vanessa Taylor.

Film 360, the feature production arm of Management 360, discovered the project and partnered with Escape Artists before the two companies approached Mandate Pictures for financing. Lionsgate will be handling international sales and Sony will distribute the film in North America in the 4th quarter of 2012.

Rappaport recently wrapped the indie “The Brass Teapot,” which marks his feature film debut. Pic stars Juno Temple and Michael Angarano. Thesp played the lead in NBC’s “Outsourced,” the first season of which debuts on DVD next week.

Rappaport is repped by The Gersh Agency and Jean-Louis Diamonika at Invictus Entertainment.
