Aronofsky rips Armond White at N.Y. Critics event

Exhibit A: the New York Film Critics Circle annual awards gala, where Darren Aronofsky, presenting the cinematography award to Matthew Libatique of “Black Swan,” seized the opportunity to take a swipe at NYFCC prexy (and evening emcee) Armond White of the New York Press.

“You give us all another reason not to read the New York Press,” Aronofsky cracked, sending a palpable hit of nervous surprise through the room.

White, it turned out, wasn’t about to let that slide. At his next stop at the podium he responded, “Hey, Darren reads me, that’s all I want. And because he reads me, he knows the truth.” — Darren Aronofsky
