ADG to fete ‘Harry Potter’ creative team

Blockbuster group to receive honor at Feb. 4 gala

The Art Directors Guild is awarding the principal creative team behind the “Harry Potter” series with its Cinematic Imagery Award Feb. 4 at the BevHilton.

The series’ creator and author J.K. Rowling; producers David Heyman and David Barron; David Yates, who directed the final four films; screenwriter Steve Kloves; art director Neil Lamont; production designer Stuart Craig; and set decorator Stephenie McMillan will all be honored at ADG’s 16th Annual Excellence in Production Design Awards.

“Their phenomenal success is due to a unity of vision and the masterful wizardry of the franchise’s creator, producers, screenwriter and art direction family,” said ADG President Thomas A. Walsh.This is the first time the ADG has given this award to a film series. Past recipients include Clint Eastwood, George Lucas, Warren Beatty and Steven Spielberg. –
