Continuing his emergence as an actor and producer, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson will topline “Freelancers,” with Jessy Terrero directing.
Jackson will portray the son of a slain NYPD officer who is welcomed by his father’s former partner into the ranks of his vice crime task force — and onto a team of rogue Gotham cops. Filming begins March 28 in Grand Rapids, Mich. L. Philippe Casseus penned the script.
Cheetah Vision’s Randall Emmett and Jackson will produce alongside George Furla of Hedge Fund Films and EFF. “Freelancers” is the second film in a 10-picture deal announced last fall that’s backed by a $200 million fund with Lionsgate releasing the films domestically. “Setup,” the first title under the deal, recently completed principal photography with Jackson, Bruce Willis and Ryan Phillippe starring.
Pic will be exec produced by Mark Canton along with Envision Entertainment’s Stepan Martirosyan, Remington William Chase Jeff Rice and Paradox’s Fred Malmberg and Daniel Wagner and Rick Jackson, Barry Brooker and Stan Wertleb. Brandon Grimes will serve as co-producer. Jackson’s previous acting credits include “Righteous Kill” and “Get Rich or Die Tryin’.”
