TF1 inks sales on ‘Names of Love’

UGC nabs 'Wok the Kasbah,' 'The Day I Saw Your Heart'

TF1 Intl. has inked a raft of sales on “The Names of Love,” Michel Leclerc’s comedy starring Jacques Gamblin.

Pic was nabbed by Music Box (U.S.), Mongrel Media (Canada), X Verleih (Germany), Karma Films (Spain), Rialto Entertainment (Australia), Odeon (Greece) and Mares Filmes (Brazil). Pic bowed at Cannes’ Critics’ Week and also played Pusan. Satirical laffer tells the tale of a left-wing femme politician who is sleeping her way to the top, but then meets her match.

UGC, the distribution arm of TF1 Intl., has nabbed French distrib rights to Nicolas Benamou’s feature helming debut “Wok the Kasbah” and director Jennifer Devoldere’s Melanie Laurent starrer “The Day I Saw Your Heart.”

Both are repped by TF1 Intl. and will be presented to buyers at the 13th Unifrance Paris Rendez-Vous With French Cinema, which kicks off Wednesday. A comedy set in Belleville, the multi-ethnic Paris neighborhood, “Wok the Kasbah” turns on two family clans, one Algerian and the other Chinese, who run restaurants in the same terrace.

Produced by Recifilms and Axel Films, “Kasbah” stars Vincent Lacoste and Nader Boussandel. Release is skedded for late 2011.

“The Day I Saw Your Heart” is a Paris-set family dramedy produced by Aissa Djabri and Farid Lahouassa at Vertigo Prods.

Pic turns on a 27-year-old commitment-phobic young woman whose life is turned upside down when her father announces his third wife is expecting a child. Film, which stars Michel Blanc, will be released in France by UGC in April.

TF1 Intl. will also unveil a 10-minute 3D promo reel of Joann Sfar and Antoine Delesvaux’ “The Rabbi’s Cat,” which will be released by UGC in June.

Outfit’s sales slate also boasts the psychological thriller “The Night Clerk,” starring Jean Pierre Bacri, and “The Law of Violence,” toplining Jean-Paul Rouve. Both films will be distribbed by UGC in March.
