Sony, Goldwyn pact for ‘Orgy’

Sudeikis laffer set for late summer release

BERLIN — On the eve of the Berlin Film Festival, Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions and Samuel Goldwyn Films have snapped up all domestic rights to Jason Sudeikis comedy “A Good Old Fashioned Orgy.”

Samuel Goldwyn will theatrically release the pic targeting late summer while SPWA also picked up Aussie and Canadian rights.

Essential Entertainment is handling international sales on the pic at Berlinale, which it is shopping to buyers at the market.

Pic, about a group of 30-somethings who spend every summer weekend throwing elaborate theme parties and eventually throw one final bash – an orgy -, marks the co-directorial debut of Pete Huyck and Alex Gregory (“King of the Hill,” “Frasier”).

Endgame Entertainment’s James D. Stern produced the pic along with exec producers Douglas Hansen, Ram Bergman, Brian R. Etting, George Parra and Christopher Petzel.

Peter Goldwyn, VP of acquisitions for Samuel Godwyn negotiated the deal with SPWA’s Michael Helfand, senior VP of business affairs and Scott Shooman, VP of acquisitions and productions.
