‘Salt’ sells to 10 territories

Di Gregorio's followup to 'Lunch' launched at Berlin

Italo multihyphenate Gianni Di Gregorio’s “The Salt of Life,” his followup to sleeper hit “Mid-August Lunch,” has been sold by London-based Fandango Portobello to 10 more territories following its bow at the Berlin Film Festival.

It has been picked up by Artificial Eye for the U.K., Neue Visionen for Germany/Austria, Golam for Spain and Rialto Distribution for Australia, among other deals, with talks underway for the U.S. and Canada.

Like “Lunch,” “Salt” stars Di Gregorio as a retired Roman slacker dominated by the women in his family.

Penned by Di Gregorio and produced by Angelo Barbagallo’s BiBi Films and Isaria Prods., in collaboration with RAI Cinema, “Salt” is on niche release in Italy where it has pulled in more than $1 million since Feb. 11.

“Mid-August Lunch” launched at Venice in 2008 and was released by Zeitgeist Films in the U.S.
