Shoreline sells remake rights to Russian-language thriller

Shoreline Entertainment has sold English-language remake rights to Irish sophomore director Johnny O’Reilly’s Russian-language thriller, “The Weather Station.”

Vertigo and 18-24 Prods. have picked up the rights on the Arctic meteorological station whodunit.

The original version, starring Russia’s Sergey Garmash and Aleksey Guskov, will be distributed in the U.S. by Hannover House, which plans an initial five-city release in the fall.

Moscow-based O’Reilly said pic will be targeted at arthouse and student venues.”The Weather Station” is produced by Sergei Selyanov and Vlad Ryashin.

O’Reilly is prepping a Russian-language project with the working title, “Moscow Never Sleeps,” that has Irish Film Board development funding.

He is also in talks with Hollywood agencies about a move westward.
