Omnilab to launch with ‘Dylan Dog’

Company to distribute Brandon Routh-starrer in U.S.

Australia-based producer/financier Omnilab Media is getting into the distribution business, starting with the release of Brandon Routh-starrer “Dylan Dog: Dead of Night.”

Freestyle Releasing will facilitate the pic’s theatrical run, with film getting a wide theatrical release in the U.S. on April 29 under the newly-created Omni/FSR label, which will oversee marketing and P&A expenditures in conjunction with Omnilab Media and Cinemarket.

Based on the best-selling Italian horror comicbook, “Dylan Dog” stars Routh as the world’s only private investigator of the undead. Routh’s “Superman Returns” co-star Sam Huntington plays his assistant, while other cast members include Taye Diggs and Anita Briem.

Kevin Munroe directs from a script by Joshua Oppenheimer and Thomas Dean Donnelly, who are currently writing “Doctor Strange” for Marvel.

Hyde Park Entertainment’s Ashok Amritraj produced with Scott Mitchell Rosenberg of Platinum Studios and Gilbert Adler (“Superman Returns”).

Exec producers include Omnilab’s Christopher Mapp, Matthew Street and David Whealy, as well as Peter D. Graves, Will French, Stephen Roberts, Patrick Aiello, Lars Sylvest, Randy Greenberg and Munroe.

Omnilab recently partnered with Kennedy Miller Mitchell to create a digital film company that will be involved in the production of “Happy Feet 2.”
