Crime Scene loads ‘Gun’ with Wechsler

Risjad, Elway to exec produce; Bradford will co-produce

Crime Scene Pictures partners Adam Ripp and Rob Paris are teaming with Nick Wechsler to produce action thriller “Man With a Gun,” based on a screenplay by Robert Hewitt Wolfe.

Wechsler, producer of “Under the Skin” and upcoming Steven Soderbergh male stripper pic “Magic Mike,” will produce along with Crime Scene, which will also finance the pic.

The contempo Western is about a man seeking redemption: Eisenhower “Ike” Bell is on a mission to infiltrate the gangs of drug warlords in a U.S. border town that is slowly being suffocated by a drug war that it has endured for generations.

Rizal Risjad and Philip Elway will exec produce and Lizzy Bradford will co-produce. Paris and Ripp are in Toronto discussing the project with directors, and the duo plan to package the film in preparation for the Berlin Film Festival in Feburary.

“The appeal of this project is in its weaving of the classic themes of revenge and redemption being played out in a contemporary setting, with an iconic hero and a truly quirky cast of characters,” Ripp and Paris said in a statement.

CAA and ICM will co-rep domestic theatrical rights.

Earlier this year, Crime Scene’s Colin Firth-Cameron Diaz starrer “Gambit” was one of the biggest sellers at the Berlinale, where it was being shopped by Glen Basner’s FilmNation.
