Portuguese producer Paulo Branco will preside over the jury of the 64th Locarno Film Festival, which has announced its full roster of jurors.
Branco, a fixture on the international fest circuit, has shepherded a slew of works by auteurs including Manoel de Oliveira, Wim Wenders, Alain Tanner, Joao Cesar Monteiro and, most recently, David Cronenberg, whose “Cosmopolis” is filming.
Rounding out the main jury of the Swiss fest dedicated to young directors and cutting-edge cinema are Gallic actor Louis Garrel, German actress Sandra Hueller, Swiss director Bettina Oberli and Italian actress Jasmine Trinca.
Locarno’s Filmmakers of the Present jury will be presided over by German director Christoph Hochhausler. Jurors are Italo helmer Michelangelo Frammartino, Filipino helmer Raya Martin, Chinese producer Zhu Rikun and Greek helmer-producer Athina Rachel Tsangari.
A trio of journos — American Robert Koehler, who reviews for publications including Variety, France’s Anthony Bobeau and Thailand’s Kong Rithdee — will pick the best first work unspooling in the main competish, Filmmakers of the Present and at the Piazza Grande.
The fest will run Aug. 3-13.
