A who’s who of international film programmers gathered on the Directors’ Fortnight beach Thursday for a power lunch.

Hosted by the sidebar’s artistic director Frederic Boyer, the annual rendez-vous gives the festival topper and directors of other fests “a chance to break away from the screening schedule and mingle with brothers in arms in a nice and relaxing setting,” as Sundance’s director of programming, Trevor Groth, put it.

Added Groth, “We do (a similar event) in the snowy mountains of Utah, indoors to stay warm, but to be out here on the beach with this view is lovely.”

A convivial host, Boyer said the luncheon, held in partnership with Variety, was “an opportunity to catch up with fellow film lovers who share a taste for cinema and good wine.”
