In a push to persuade Screen Actors Guild members, Paramount/Relativity’s “The Fighter” and Focus Features’ “The Kids Are All Right” have become available as free downloads on iTunes for SAG members through Jan. 28.

The studios made the announcement Friday, a week after Fox made its Fox Searchlight titles “Black Swan,” “127 Hours” and “Conviction” available for free viewing on iTunes by SAG voters. Fox cited the costs and security concerns in distributing conventional screeners to the 100,000 eligible SAG voters.

Deadline for SAG voting is Jan. 28 with the trophies handed out two days later.

Downloads of the five pics can be viewed on the iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, Mac, PC or with Apple TV. It’s the first time that features have been made available online for awards consideration although Showtime, NBC and others have offered online screening for Emmy-qualifying TV programs for the past few years.

“The recognition ‘The Fighter’ has received has been tremendous and this opportunity to provide an exciting digital means for SAG members to see the film is something that we are extremely pleased to be able to offer with the help of both iTunes and SAG,” said Rob Moore, Vice Chairman Paramount Pictures.

“The Fighter” received SAG nominations for the cast, for Christian Bale in male supporting and for Amy Adams and Melissa Leo in female supporting. SAG members can receive their redemption codes at http://www.paramountguilds.com/sag.

“The Kids Are All Right” received SAG nominations for cast, for Annette Bening as lead actress and for Mark Ruffalo in the male supporting category.

“The movie is all about family, and now members of the SAG family will enjoy the opportunity and the flexibility to see the picture and experience the performances of the SAG Award-nominated cast – whether in a repeat viewing or for the first time with iTunes,” said Focus president Andrew Karpen.

“The Kids Are All Right” was made available to iTunes customers in November. SAG members can obtain information on accessing a free 24-hour rental at http://www.focusawards2010.com/sag.
