‘Descendants’ tops with Florida crix

Woodley, Williams, Fassbender, Olsen honored

Alexander Payne’s “The Descendants” took top honors at the Florida Film Critics Circle, with wins for best pic, supporting actress for Shailene Woodley, and best screenplay for Payne, Nat Faxon and Jim Rash.

In the acting categories, Michael Fassbender nabbed best actor for “Shame,” Michelle Williams was named best actress for “My Week with Marilyn” and Albert Brooks won a supporting trophy for “Drive.” Elizabeth Olsen was named breakout star of the year for her work in “Martha Marcy May Marlene.”

Martin Scorsese won for best director for his work on “Hugo.”

The FFCC was founded in 1996 and is comprised of critics and writers in the Florida area.
