“Highrise: Out My Window,” a Web doc depicting the life of tenants in highrises, won the Intl. Digital Emmy Award for nonfiction, while “Shankaboot,” highlighting the social difficulties often ignored by Arabian media, took the fiction prize Monday in Cannes.
“Highrise” is from the National Board of Canada, “Shankaboot” from Batoota Films/BBC World Service Trust.
“Battlefront II,” about youth passionate for global change, from Raw TV/Airlock for Channel 4, took the prize for children and young people.
Jon M. Chu, creator and executive producer of “The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers,” was awarded the Pioneer Award for creative use of digital entertainment.
More than 300 execs attended the ceremony hosted by the Intl. Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
