‘Don’t Ask Don’t Tell’ sets release

First chapter online today

Coinciding with the Sept. 20 repeal of the U.S. military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy, SnagFilms has acquired a film of the same name and is releasing the first of its 11 chapters online today.

“Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” adapts Marc Wolf’s Obie-winning one-man Off Broadway show “Another American: Asking and Telling.” In the film, Wolf reenacts, in first-person perspective, interviews and anecdotes from 18 individuals on both sides of the issue. Stories from soldiers, veterans, military family members and Charles Moskos, creator of the policy, are included.

SnagFilms plans to distribute “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” through several platforms. The first of 11 chapters has been released on Snagfilms.com, with the others rolling out across the SnagFilms network. The film will also be released on Hulu and Hulu Plusand online through Rogers Media in Canada. The feature-length version will be available on the day of the repeal, Sept. 20, through Comcast Xfinity On Demand and FIOS TV On Demand. Soon after that, “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” will be available through electronic sell-through partners.

The film, directed by John C. Walsh, was produced by Vuguru and Daryl Roth.
