The cloud-based gaming company today announced it has signed an alliance with Vizio to bring OnLive to that company’s TVs and mobile devices.
Details are scarce – and likely to come Wednesday during the CES press conference blitz. What’s known is the service will now extend to Vizio HDTVs, as well as the company’s newly announced line of Via tablets, smartphones, and Blu-ray players.
It’s a notable threat to game console makers – as OnLive offers premium games and doesn’t require an upfront purchase of as much as $400. Third-party publishers, including Ubisoft, have previously said that the threat of streaming services infiltrating cable services and smart TVs, could be the single biggest threat to the Xbox and PlayStation empires.
