The International 3D Society will present Sony Corp. of America with its 2012 Sir Charles Wheatstone Award for advocacy, technology and professional education at the Society’s 3rd Annual 3D Creative Arts Awards ceremony to be held at the Beverly Hills Hotel on February 1, 2012. The awards annually bestow the Lumiere statuette to 3D movies, TV programs, videogames, and advertising, as selected by the society’s voting membership. “At the core of the Society’s charter is the education and support of filmmakers embarking on 3D projects and to refine the skills of 3D veterans,” said I3DS chair Jim Mainard. “With that in mind, Sony conceived of, and implemented, a tremendously compelling hands-on 3D program, the effects of which will be realized in films for years to come.”
