Brit indie distrib Revolver Entertainment has hired Dave Bishop as head of acquisitions.

Bishop previously headed Sony Pictures Home Entertainment’s U.K. and northern European product acquisitions, including theatrical and non-theatrical features as well as TV and special-interest productions.

Key acquisitions made by Bishop during his tenure at Sony include helmer Eli Craig’s Sundance player “Tucker and Dale vs. Evil.”

In 2006, Bishop took charge of Sony’s local acquisitions strategy focusing on the purchase of direct-to-video features, sales and distribution deals.

Bishop was then appointed to the newly created role of U.K. acquisitions manager, rising to head of acquisitions for Northern Europe in 2008. The following year, he moved to L.A. as acting VP of acquisitions for Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group. – — Diana Lodderhose
