Principal Communications hires Joe Libonati

NBCUniversal vet named managing director of N.Y. office

Principal Communications Group has tapped PR vet Joe Libonati as managing director of its New York office.

He joins PCG from NBCUniversal, where he held the role of VP of corporate communications and media relations.

Libonati reports to managing partners Paul Pflug and Melissa Zukerman. He’ll work with corporate digital and traditional clients, with particular emphasis on corporate messaging, social media, digital and television matters.

While at NBCUniversal, Libonati managed social media strategy and contributed to overall corporate and executive messaging. He served previously as VP of communications for the Universal Television Group after joining NBCUniversal in 2004 as a director of primetime series publicity, overseeing such shows as “The West Wing” and “ER.”

Libonati started his career at PMK and also worked for I/D Public Relations.
