Laith, Jammal joins ‘Djinn’

Horror pic is Imagenation's sophomore local production

LONDON — Khalid Laith (“The Devil’s Double”) and Razane Jammal (“Carlos”) have joined the cast of Imagenation Abu Dhabi’s sophomore local production “Djinn.”

The supernatural horror pic is directed by “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” helmer Tobe Hooper and penned by David Tully.

Story follows a young Emirati couple who return home from the U.S. to discover that their new apartment in a luxury high-rise built on the site of an abandoned fishing village is also home to the malevolent beings known as “djinn.”

Shooting is skedded to commence this week at various locations in Dubai.

Pic, backed by Imagenation, is produced by Daniela Tully and Filmworks’ Tim Smythe. Jaye Gazeley and Robert Crippen are co-producing.

Supporting roles include Aiysha Hart, Carole Abboud, Paul Luebke and May El Calamawy.

Emirati thesps Ahmed Abdullah and “City of Life” star Saoud Al Kaabi will also appear in the pic alongside Abdullah Al Junaibi.
