Film Factory inks key deals for ‘Saint’

Maas' slasher pic sold to more than 30 territories

Vicente Canales’ sales company Film Factory Entertainment has inked key deals on Dutch helmer Dick Maas’ Santa slasher pic “Sint” (“Saint”), taking its total to more than 30 territories.

Main agreements include France, Germany and Scandinavia for E1, Metrodome Distribution in the U.K., Vendetta Films in Australia and New Zealand, HGC in China, Mexico’s Corazon Films, Japan’s New Select and Leda Films, which has taken Latin American pay TV rights.

Further deals have closed with Gulf Films for the Middle East, Taiwan’s Schenchi Media, Sundream in Hong Kong, Vapet for Czech Republic and Slovakia and Eurofilms for Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador.

Produced by Holland’s Tom de Mol Prods. and Parachute Pictures, “Saint” is the latest genre offering from Maas (“Amsterdamned,” “The Lift”). It was a B.O. hit in Netherlands after its November release.

“Saint” turns on an evil Saint Nicholas who, rather than handing out Christmas gifts, becomes a risen-from-the dead medieval bishop abducting children.

IFC Midnight snagged “Saint’s” U.S. rights from Los Angeles-based XYZ Films in April.
