‘Fighter’ closes out Rotterdam

Pic replaces 'King's Speech,' which was pulled

BRUSSELS — David O. Russell’s boxing drama “The Fighter” will close the Rotterdam Film Festival on Feb. 5 after the previously announced closer, “The King’s Speech,” was pulled by its producers.

“Speech” was removed to allow the pic to concentrate on its Oscar and BAFTA campaigns, according to a statement from Paradiso Filmed Entertainment Benelux, the Dutch distrib of “The King’s Speech.”

Tom Hooper’s “The King’s Speech” opens locally Feb. 17, “The Fighter” on March 24.
