ZLIN, Czech Rep. — Russian TV network CTC has beefed up its international profile with an expanded cable service in North America, aimed at the Russian-speaking diaspora.
CTC International — first introduced to North America in December 2009 — has added two platforms, Time Warner Cable in New York City and Russian Media Group, signing long-term agreements with both.
The deals will expand coverage bringing the channel’s mix of popular home-grown shows and international series to around 175,000 viewers in North America.
The move makes selling advertising inventory feasible, with sales expected to start in the fall of 2011, CTC said Tuesday.
Anton Kudryashov, CEO of CTC Media, said: “We continue to develop our business outside of Russia by launching CTC International in new markets and expanding our presence in countries of established operations.
“Our current potential audience is 12 million viewers worldwide, and we expect our subscriber base to grow several times by the end of 2011.”
