Black & Blue launches DVD label

First release will be Martin Kemp's 'Stalker'

LONDON — Indie genre shingle Black & Blue Films is launching its own U.K. DVD label in association with indie DVD distributor 4Digital Media.

Independent Brit distrib Metrodome will handle all sales and distribution for the label.

The first pic released through the label will be “Stalker,” the directorial debut of Martin Kemp, the former Spandau Ballet bassist and thesp in top U.K. sudser “Eastenders.” Pic toplines Jane March and Colin Salmon.

In addition to releasing some of Black & Blue’s own productions, the label will actively be seeking third-party product that complements its genre-house style.

The shingle focuses on popular horror, crime and comedy genres and has had clicks with productions such as Steven Lawson’s horror “Dead Cert,” Mark McQueen’s “Devil’s Playground” and “Just for the Record,” a comedy also helmed by Lawson.

Black & Blue m.d. Jonathan Sothcott will work on acquisitions for the label with Tony Taglienti and Steve Beecham of 4Digital Media.

Sothcott was previously head of programming for The Horror Channel.

“4Digital Media has been a trusted distribution partner of mine for three years and it is natural for us to extend that partnership through this venture,” said Sothcott in a statement. “I have always intended to grow Black & Blue into a mini studio and having a guaranteed end user for product that we deliver and source gives comfort for both filmmakers and financiers.”
