Belgium hosts market for 3D films

Event to run as part of 3D Stereo Media confab

Belgium is to launch Europe’s first dedicated 3D film market.

The mart will be part of the 3D Stereo Media confab, which will run for the third consecutive year in Liege in the French-speaking Walloon region, which has been cultivating stereoscopic film technology in recent years.

The Dec. 7-8 event includes a professional forum, a film festival and a conference on the latest research.

The 3D mart, developed by 3D Stereo Media in association with Technologies From Wallonia for Image, Sound and Text (Twist), and Germany’s Peacefulfish, is partially funded by the European Commission’s Media Program.

It aims to link producers of film, TV and alternative content with projects in the development stage, Walloon economic minister Jean-Claude Marcourt and Twist’s managing director, Pierre Collin, said in a statement.

International co-producers, sales agents, distributors and financiers will be invited to meet producers via one-to-one meetings and pitching sessions. The deadline for submitting a project is Sept. 1.
