The 65th Edinburgh Film Festival has unveiled the first glimpse of this year’s British selection, including world premieres of David Hare’s telepic “Page Eight,” Matthew Parkhill’s “The Caller,” Karl Golden’s “Weekender” and Niall MacCormick’s “Albatross.”
These are among nine films revealed by the fest ahead of its full program announcement later this month. The fest runs June 15-26.
The organizers are promising a radical revamp of its format this year, following steep budget cuts and a shake-up of its key personnel, including the exit of its artistic director, chairman and general manager.
The fest has dropped its awards, including its prize for British film. But new fest director James Mullighan said it will continue to be “the ideal launch pad for important new British cinema and the place at which emerging new British talent is nurtured.”
