Sam Rubin gets a shout out from Deadline’s Nikki Finke today, with the latter casually referring to the “KTLA Morning News” fixture as “my KTLA pal Sam Rubin.”
When you find out that two folks who you’ve had differences with separately think of each other as pals, well, everything just seems to be a little bit more orderly in the world.
And by the way, I can’t wait to see who plays him in “Tilda.”
P.S. Although I seldom watch KTLA’s morning show, I happened to turn it on today. There were so many breathtaking juxtapositions of serious stories with goofy ones that I can’t even remember them all, but it was fabulous to see them throw from a news recap to a reporter in the field with the Speedo-clad calendar model for a Water Polo team. This sent me running to the station’s website to find out more about some zany contest the station is running — in conjunction with 99 Cents Only Stores — where viewers can win $99.99.
Or, as I believe they refer to that amount around Tribune corporate headquarters, enough money to offer the people serving you drinks an inducement to remove their shirts.
